Mercor is inviting experienced professionals to join as Software & Data Science Experts in a fully remote contract position. The role offers flexible working hours and competitive pay ranging from $60–$75 per hour.
About the Role
Mercor is building benchmark datasets to evaluate AI models on professional document understanding and instruction following within the technology domain. Contributors will create complex tasks based on real-world technical materials such as architecture documents, API references, codebases, and technical specifications.
Each task will include a clearly defined solution and evaluation criteria to help improve the capabilities of next-generation AI systems.

- Compensation: $60–$75 per hour
- Commitment: Minimum 15–20 hours per week
- Payment Method: Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
Responsibilities
- Create complex, multi-step tasks for AI model evaluation.
- Work with technical documents, architecture diagrams, API references, and codebases.
- Define accurate ground truth outputs and objective evaluation rubrics.
- Test AI models’ ability to reason, follow instructions, and generate well-structured responses.
- Contribute to improving frontier AI systems.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should have at least 3 years of practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Software Engineering
- Data Science
- Analytics
Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical documentation are highly preferred.
Contract Terms
- Independent contractor position.
- Work from anywhere and set your own schedule.
- Project duration may vary based on performance and business requirements.
