Key Job Responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer I at Amazon, you will:
- 🤝 Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
- ⚙️ Design and build innovative technologies within a large-scale distributed computing environment.
- 🔑 Play a key role in driving fundamental changes in the industry.
- 📊 Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems while leveraging innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
- 🗄️ Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, cost-efficient, and user-friendly.
- 💻 Design and code solutions starting from broadly defined problems.
- 🏃♂️ Work in an agile environment to consistently deliver high-quality software solutions.
Basic Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, candidates must have:
- 🎓 Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals, including:
- Object-Oriented Design
- Algorithm Design
- Data Structures
- Problem Solving
- Complexity Analysis
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as:
- C / C++
- Python
- Java
- Perl
Preferred Qualifications
Amazon looks for candidates with additional strengths like:
- Previous technical internship experience(s).
- Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
- Background in optimization mathematics (e.g., linear programming, nonlinear optimization).
- Strong ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
- Comfortable handling ambiguous or undefined problems.
- Ability to think abstractly while designing solutions.
