As a Software Development Engineer (SDE-I), you won’t just write code—you’ll design, build, and scale systems that power Amazon’s massive ecosystem of customers, sellers, and partners. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where development cycles are measured in weeks, not years.

Key Responsibilities

As an SDE-I at Amazon, you will:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and launch innovative products and services.
• Build distributed systems at an unprecedented scale with fault-tolerance, low latency, and cost efficiency.
• Create predictive solutions running on distributed infrastructure using cutting-edge technologies.
• Design and implement storage, indexing, and querying systems that are scalable and easy to manage.
• Tackle broadly defined problems, identify the right approach, and implement efficient solutions.
• Deliver high-quality software in an agile environment with quick iterations.

Basic Qualifications

To apply, you must:

• Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field at the time of application.
• Have familiarity with at least one programming language such as Java, C/C++, or Python.
• Understand Computer Science fundamentals, including:
  • Object-oriented design
  • Algorithm design and analysis
  • Data structures
  • Problem solving techniques
  • Complexity analysis

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following will give you an advantage:

• Previous technical internship experience in software development.
• Exposure to distributed and multi-tiered systems, relational databases, and algorithms.
• Knowledge of optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
• Ability to articulate complex technical challenges and solutions effectively.
• A strong mindset for dealing with ambiguous or undefined problems.
• Ability to think both abstractly and practically while designing solutions.
